Teaching focus: Business of the Entertainment Industry

Courses Taught

Bill has a master’s degree from the University of Chicago and a BA from UCLA’s Theater, Film and Television program. After graduation, he joined the production department at HBO in Los Angeles working on projects including “Tales From the Crypt,” and “The Larry Sanders Show.” He founded and supervised the research department for the Emmy Award winning mini-series “From the Earth to the Moon.” Bill moved to a post-production supervisor position at MDP Worldwide before returning to Chicago in 1998.
A graduate of The Second City improv acting program and playwrighting workshops at Victory Gardens Theater, Bill also produced numerous DVD and video releases for Big Idea Productions, makers of the 3-D animated series “Veggietales.” He has also produced news stories for Germany’s ARD-TV, examining American reaction to the war in Iraq.
Bill presently works as Post-Production Manager at Harpo Studios and produces freelance projects.
His research and teaching interests include Narrative and Storytelling, (both in art and everyday life), Social Networking, Cultural Evolution, as well as examining the Entertainment Business as a complex adaptive system.
