Matthew Irvine is an award-winning writer/director of feature films, television commercials and music videos. He is one of the principal founders of the Digital Cinema program, and currently serves as the program committee chair.
An avid supporter of technology in the motion picture industry, Matt’s award-winning film ”Still Water” was the first movie in the Midwest to be edited on a non-linear editing system. Matt’s passion for the integration of computer technology and cinema was one of the driving forces behind the creation of the Digital Cinema program. Matt has been teaching at DePaul since 1997 and is currently the director of DePaul’s Digital Media Centers.
Matt has over fifteen years of experience in the motion picture industry ranging from directing and editing to screenwriting. He has written over ten feature-length screenplays including ”The Hazing”, winner of the Producer's Access Program, ”Dark Water”, and ”Vincent ‘52”
His most recent script “Scott’s Dead”, a co-authored adaptation of Matt’s stage play of the same name, is scheduled to go into production during the summer of ’06 with Matt slated as director. Matt was one of the main people involved with the restoration of the cult classic film, ”Carnival of Souls” (Criterion Collection) and is currently writing the script for its re-make. Matt’s feature motion picture (writer/director), “Bludgeoned” (aka ”No Tomorrow”) was recently released by Spectrum Entertainment, and is currently available on DVD and VHS.
